In collaboration with playwright Aaron Posner, this theoretical project examined his new play The Cherry Tortured. A modern spin on Chekov's classic The Cherry Orchard, the script explored the dynamics of an upper middle class family in modern America facing financial ruin and the loss of the family home. Through this process we wanted to find the honesty in each character and explore how the script held its own with dramaturgy and design. I was interested in how class shaped how these characters looked and presented to the outside world, especially with Fears, Char and Earl who sit in direct opposition to our leading lady, Miss Lulu.
